Kingsbridge's Vintage Bus Day is going ahead on Saturday 19 September now that culvert works around the bus station have been completed.  Our thanks to South Hams District Council for granting the licence.

New routes are being introduced for 2026 in part due to the ravages of the winter storms which destroyed a section of the Slapton Line road just north of Torcross.  These routes provide a new perspective on the stunning scenery while also ensuring we support the local businesses affected.  In addition progress in preservation  means 20-year old double-deck buses are amongst the vintage bus day entrants and a dedicated route with an intensive service will enable passengers to enjoy different examples.

​Souvenir programmes demonstrate the significance of these vehicles in the area over recent decades and show how it was similarly prompt action by earlier preservationists which means vehicles from the 1930s onwards will also be running in Kingsbridge on 19 September.  Another article looks at the early establishment of bus company vehicle depot and passenger service facilities at locations around the town.

The rural lanes and stunning coastline are a distinctive feature of the Kingsbridge vintage bus day.  The destinations offer ice cream and sand, railway heritage, country pubs and much more.  So, with 20+ routes and up to 40 vehicles anticipated, it makes sense to get a programme in advance to plan your day.  You can pre-order online here or call in to the Information Centre on Kingsbridge Quay to buy a copy from 9 September.

Feeder bus services will run from Totnes and Plymouth stopping at the mainline Railway Stations and points on the A-roads into Kingsbridge, with return services at the end of the day.  Detailed timings will be confirmed here in due course.
