Taunton Vintage Bus Day

Perhaps you remember daily travel from the bus station over the decades or enjoyed vintage bus days when visiting vehicles recreated the scene with free rides on routes around Taunton? Well, lament those times no more and put Sunday 2 June in your diary. Return with us to the bus station in Tower Street for one day only (courtesy of Taunton Town Council, Somerset Council and NHS Somerset), as we regenerate the friendly vibrancy for which these Taunton events were known. 

Souvenir Programmes including Timetables

Our souvenir programmes contain all the information you need to enjoy your day. There are details of the places, times and vintage buses so you can plan ahead.  There will be visitor opportunities at Sheppy's cider, the West Somerset Railway and the new County Classics Motor Museum. Feature articles illustrate the heritage that the day will celebrate, like the bus station itself - a rare survivor of a style once common nationwide. Designed by H A Starkey, the bus company's architect, it opened in 1953 but closed in 2020.

Programmes can be purchased in advance online (£8 inc p&p).  They will also be available locally for £7 in the run up to the event (outlet tbc) and on the day.

Vehicle Entries

Passenger experience and enjoyment are central to the event so we are keen to receive entries representing different decades of bus travel to suit young and old – you can enter online or download an entry form in Word or pdf formats.
